You have done several holidays with Zac since his birth. What are your survival tips for families thinking of doing the same?

Some of our holidays have been a bit of a challenge! In hindsight, I think it would have been a bit less stressful for our first overseas trip to be in a country with safe drinking water. Because babies put everything in their mouths, it was inevitable that Zac would get sick but when I booked the holiday, I just didn't think about it at the time. Trying to care for a 6 month old when all of you have Bali Belly is pretty unpleasant but we survived and actually had a great time in the end.

Some tips for travelling that I would suggest if you are travelling to a place like Asia is to take your own food for the baby - like the pre-packaged food pouches.  Take your own sterilising tablets so you can clean dummies, bottles, toys etc, especially if you won't have kitchen facilities. Think about investing in or hiring a travel stroller if you are going somewhere hot or have a long time to wait in the airport. Baby carriers are great but not ideal if you are both sweltering in the heat or want to sit down in the airport and have your baby sleep at the same time.

Travelling with very young babies is actually quite easy because they sleep so much and you can feed them on the way up and down on the flight. Once they get old enough to crawl, they don't tend to want to sit quietly on your lap! If your little one is still able to fit in the airplane bassinet request one for longer flights! It was so nice to be able to put Zac down in it and not have to worry about one of us holding him.
